Nail Cutting

Prama offer a Nail Cutting Service if you have poor mobility, poor eyesight, are a low risk diabetic or take an anticoagulant e.g. Warfarin.  Our Nail care workers are trained by the PCT Podiatry services department.  Your doctor or medical surgery will need to confirm that it is safe for us to cut your nails rather than a fully trained chiropodist, we will take care of that for you.

There is a fee of £17 to cut your toe nails or finger nails, discounts may apply for people in the same household and for additional nail cutting.  We will supply to you, at the first visit, your own set of clippers and nail file in a small case, the charge for these is £10.50.  We will only use the clippers provided by us. If you would like to have your nails cut with us, please get in touch by ringing Prama on 01202 207308.

Local areas covered are Bournemouth, Christchurch, Poole, Blandford, Wimborne and Ferndown.

Prama secures funding to support Highcliffe people living with dementia.

Chris Wakefield & Donna Blanche

The Prama Foundation has been awarded £5,500 from the Leonardo Trust in order to set up a new PramaLIFE Memory Lane group in the Highcliffe and Christchurch area. The group will be run by a trained dementia worker, supported by volunteers and will provide a stimulating environment for people living with memory loss or dementia.

Group members can get involved in social activities, reminiscence sessions, singing, painting, physical activities and there is a specific Sporting Memories activity as well. Carers can attend the sessions with their loved ones, or can take a couple of well-needed hours for themselves, knowing that their cared-for person is in a safe and stimulating environment. One carer at another Prama Memory Lane group said, “As Official Carer for Mary, my Mother-in-Law, I cannot praise or thank PramaLIFE enough for their thoughtfulness, professionalism and kindness.

She finds the memory stimuli a welcome challenge, they help her think and thereby she is also given the opportunity to be involved, express her thoughts and feelings, join in with the interchanges and reminisce.”

Chris Wakefield, Fundraiser for the Prama Foundation said, “We are immensely grateful to the Leonardo Trust for enabling us to get a new Memory Lane group off the ground in Highcliffe and Christchurch; this will make a huge difference to local people living with dementia and memory loss, and their carers. We are currently researching venues and hope to announce an opening date in the very near future.”

While it costs £5,500 to set up a Memory Lane group, after one year, they become self-funding, which means that Prama’s fundraising efforts can go towards setting up new groups and helping even more people.
