In 2016 Prama was privileged to begin delivering Brain Injury Care Services for people in Dorset with an acquired brain injury.

We are an experienced charity known for providing outstanding domiciliary care, with a commitment to help older people, vulnerable adults and now people with acquired brain injury, to live independently with the high-quality care and support they deserve.

Prama has built a reputation for home care on a solid foundation of Christian values, though is not an exclusively religious organisation; our clients and staff come from a range of faiths, or no faith. It is the core Christian values of love and care underpinning our services that has enabled us to develop the reputation we are proud to have.

The Brain Injury Service sits within the PramaCARE part of the Prama Foundation, benefitting from the recognised exemplary processes and procedures that have underpinned our domiciliary care for many years.

In the Brain Injury Service our work is as varied as our clients’ needs, and does not focus solely on providing care in the home.

Whilst we do support some of our clients with tasks and activities at home, we also help people access:

  • education

  • training

  • community based social and developmental activities

We also provide respite sits to enable family members and carers to have a break or engage themselves in social activities. Our work is built around supporting people with their rehabilitation to reduce isolation and enable people to retain a level of independence.

We have a small and dedicated team of fully trained staff, which is growing all the time. As we progress through 2018, we are working to reach out more widely across the country and provide more care and support to those who need it.

We are growing our networks and meeting new clients all the time. Our aim is to become the Service provider of choice within the County for professionals, individuals, families and carers alike. We are developing a front facing approach, giving professionals, clients and family members security in the high quality of service that is provided.

If you would like to know more about our service, or if you like to speak with someone about what assistance we can offer, please give us a call on 01202 207320.

Our role in rehabilitation is to give our clients their very best chance at making improvements through engaging in different community based activities or approaches. We aim to enable our clients to retain as much independence as possible, including working on skills and aspects of their lives they may be struggling with. The support we provide for family members and carers is essential for their wellbeing, providing space to be themselves and retain their own identity and independence.”

Diane Evans - Brain Injury Service Manager

“My own recovery from a brain injury has been helped immensely as I have integrated back into work slowly through helping others who have suffered similar or worse injuries than I have.” Rehabilitation Support Worker

I received brain injury education in addition to other training, and achieved my NVQ 2 in Health and Social care. I enjoyed learning about brain injury and how it affects an individual and their families, and I have gained vital experience working with individuals who were living with brain injury.” Rehabilitation Support Worker

Prama Launches Free Will Writing Service in Partnership with McClure Solicitors

Prama launches completely free will writing/review service – free to everyone!

We are delighted to announce that due to a partnership with the national chain of solicitors, McClure, we can now offer a completely FREE will writing and/or review service.

This is open to everyone - all Prama donors, clients, volunteers, trustees and staff - as well as all friends and family. Just consider a donation to the charity as a thank you.

The importance of having an up to date will cannot be overemphasised. However, this is something a lot of us put off, usually due to concerns about cost and convenience, prompting us to put it at the bottom of our lists.

For example, if you don’t have an up to date will, should anything happen to you, you would die intestate; in other words, the government may decide who inherits your estate. You can imagine how distressing this would be for your family to sort out. You never know what could happen, so why not make the most of this opportunity and book an appointment with McClure to get your will written this October.

Not only will you save approx. £150 but they can come to your home or work to take your instructions. Easy as that!

You can consider leaving a gift in your will or making a donation to Prama as a thank you for this opportunity – but that’s your choice, you’re not obliged to.

For more information, go to the PramaFOUNDATION website or to book your free appointment, contact McClure directly on 0800 852 1999 or email us directly here ().
